New York, USA: By Chloe
Vegan fast food has really gone mainstream with By Chloe. At my recent trip to New York I had to pop by and try real American fast food gone vegan. The timing couldn't have been better; we arrived there on a Sunday morning (afternoon actually but if felt early to us) after a big night out and a huge craving for fried food.
With already 4 branches in New York alone and a big expansion planned, by Chloe will be popping up everywhere. Apparently the speed of the expansion has caused a big controversy and the founder of the company Chloe Coscarelli has been ousted after a legal fight. However, I am just gonna talk about the food.
And we love it there, although the service could've been a bit faster. However, maybe it was just the hungover us in starvation mode who couldn't get food into us fast enough. We've been out the night before and burgers and chips were just what the doctor would've prescribed as an emergency treatment. So my friend Josh and I decided to both go for the CLASSIC BURGER with normal and sweet potato chips. Nothing fancy schmanzy like the Whiskey BBQ they offer (smoky portobello mushrooms & seitan, onion marmalade, grilled pineapple, sautéed kale, bourbon bbq in a potato bun) just the classic one.
I am not sure if it was the hangover but I do think this was the best vegan burger I ever had! Really flavourful, well seasoned, not too spicy, just right. It would've convinced any meat eater. And even though it didn't taste 'healthy' the ingredients all sounded pretty healthy like tempeh-lentil-chia-walnut patty, pickles, onion with beet ketchup, a special sauce and all that in a potato bun.
Generally their whole menu actually sounded not too unhealthy at all: from morning oats, smoothie bowls and pancakes, to Kale Cesar salads and Greek salads (with herbed tofu feta) and of course burgers, most dishes didn't just sound delicious but also reasonably healthy.
We visited their branch on 22nd street a but go to their website to find other branches in New York, Boston and Los Angeles with more openings in the pipeline. Their latest restaurant just opened in Brooklyn.

The pièce de résistance! Gone too quickly and utterly missed.
There are plenty of other options on the menu.
I would describe the restaurant design as a mix between the classic American diners with a modern twist.
Comfortable and functional seating on the inside.
Hello, I am Philipp! I started this blog because I believe delicious vegan food is for everyone and I believe in being inclusive. Food is about sharing and enjoyment and I wanted to cater for all palates while showing the amazing variety of luscious vegan dishes and how easy it is to cook them.
