Tempeh MLT burger with fried mushrooms, lettuce and tomato

  • SHARE
This burger is perfect for BBQs or simply for a tasty treat that's still healthy. The meaty flavour of the tempeh, works very well with the hummus, fried mushrooms and refhresing lettuce and tomato.

METHOD:

Cut the tempeh into roughly 1.5 - 2cm wide strips and put it into a tupperware dish. All all other marinade ingredients, close the lid of the dish and carefully turn it around a few times so the tempeh mixes well with the marinade. Let marinade for at least 30 minutes.

When the tempeh has marinated for a while heat up a pan and fry the tempeh strips on both sides. Then turn down the heat and pour half of the marinade left in the dish over the tempeh.

In the meantime take a different pan and fry some sliced mushrooms in a bit of oil, garlic powder and some pepper.

When done cut a bun into half, spread some hummus on it, add the fried mushrooms, then some lettuce, the marinated tempeh, a sliced tomato or two and then some ketchup. Add the top part of the bun and enjoy!

You will probably have some leftover tempeh. Try adding it to this meaty tempeh sandwich.
