Vegan walnut pâté - easy and delicious
If you are holding a party this is one amazing quick canapé you can make. It takes less than 15 minutes to prepare and then some time in the fridge to chill. You can easily make it a day in advance as well. Then serve it on sliced baguette or blinis. You can also add some cranberry jam or sliced grapes on top. The savoury taste of this vegan pâté goes so well with something sweet. Your guests will love it. Or just have it all by yourself instead of hummus.

I couldn't believe myself how much this tasted of pâté AND how delicious it was!

This pâté is perfect for parties. If you decide to make a bigger portion then make sure you cook it for a bit longer. I made double the portion for friends as a gift and I noticed it took me almost 10 minutes of cooking until the consistency was right. If you undercook it, it won't set and might taste starchy.

This recipe couldn't be quicker. All you have to do is blend the ingredients and then cook them on the hob and let set in your fridge.

I made this recipe first for a friend of mine and he couldn't get enough of it (he isn't even vegan). If you make it for a party I would at least double the ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:
- 75g walnuts
- 150ml water
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 2 1/2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 1/2 tbsp soy sauce (unsweetened)
- 1/2 tsp miso paste
- 1/3 tsp garlic powder
- 1/3 tsp onion powder
- 1/3 tsp smoked paprika
- Pepper to taste
METHOD:
This is really super easy!
Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend for a couple of minutes until you get a very smooth paste.
Then pour the mix into a pan on high to medium heat and heat up. Make sure you stir constantly so it doesn't burn. After a while the mixture will change consistency and turn into a paste. Cook for a couple of minutes longer and then transfer it to a flat dish. Pat down and even out with a spoon so you get a smooth surface.
Let set in the fridge for 1.5 to 2 hours.
Serve on toasted baguette.
Enjoy!
